What is so great about our tableware?  Well read on and find out …

Bagasse, the future of paper plates.

This versatile by product makes superb plates.  It is very strong and biodegrades safely into only carbon dioxide, water and minerals.  It is made from the pulp of either sugarcane waste (after the juice has been extracted) or other fibrous plants such as bamboo (an extremely fast growing and very sustainable plant).

You can use it for safely reheating food too as it is able to withstand temperatures up to 140C.  It contains no laminates, coatings or chemical additives.  It is wonderfully healthy for all your food!

If you are after some plates with a little wow factor built in, then why not go for something very green and very different?  ‘Wooden’ plates made from bamboo!  These plates are the strongest you’ll find.  Able to withstand the weight of the heaviest steak or if you prefer a double veggie burger with the lot!  They are designed for single use, but depending on the food can be gently handwashed and reused.  They also contain no harsh chemicals.

Combined with some handy wood cutlery, you’ve got yourself a very eco party set.

Yes, the cups may look like your regular petroleum based plastic ones but of course they are not.  They are made from PLA (polylactic acid) or ‘cornstarch’ which as its name suggests is derived from the starch of corn.  As this is an annually renewable resource it is a more sustainable option than cups made from petroleum based plastic.   They are designed to be biodegradable and because of their non toxic makeup they can be composted for disposal or washed and reused!

Our white cutlery (pictured top) is also made from PLA.  Unlike the clear cups that should only be used with liquids less than 50C, the cutlery can withstand hot food temperatures.  They are nice and strong and can be washed and reused if you like.

The napkins are made from unbleached recycled paper and the inks used for our Little Miss Green The Party Queen logo are food grade water based ink.  The cocktail napkins are a very convenient size for parties.

In an ideal world it would be good not to have disposables but we know that it is not practical in a lot of situations.  This is why we have sourced some really great environmentally friendly products that do help reduce pollution and waste, require less energy and water to manufacture, come from renewable resources and are often created from waste products.  Responsible partying is the only way to go!
